Unterhaching/Fulda – The DataGerry software developed by NETHINKS will be taken over by the Munich-based IT service provider becon with immediate effect. The two companies agreed on the acquisition in November 2022. With the operation of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) DATAGERRY, becon expands its product offering in the area of digital documentation and management databases, while NETHINKS continues to position itself as a managed service provider after the handover of the software.
Acquisition of DataGerry by becon
Following successful negotiations, the acquisition of DataGerry software has now been officially confirmed. “We are very happy that DataGerry has found a new home. The software is in excellent hands with our partner in Unterhaching,” says Uwe Bergmann, CEO of NETHINKS. The company from Fulda in eastern Hesse has established itself as a managed service provider in the information and communications technology (ICT) and offers holistic services in the areas of IT infrastructure and communications. A strategic realignment also includes divesting successful projects at the appropriate time, Bergmann added. Steffen Rieger, Managing Partner of becon, is looking forward to the addition to the family and adds: “We see DataGerry as a perfect addition to our service management portfolio. With the API Management Gateway OpenCelium and the Enterprise CMDB i-doit, DataGerry closes a previous gap for the generic recording of customer-specific object types. As a first step, we want to ensure support and seek contact with the community in order to subsequently plan and implement innovations.” Headquartered in Unterhaching, becon specializes in the digitalization of IT processes and mobile communication infrastructures. According to Rieger, the acquisition of DataGerry therefore fits perfectly into the company’s current development.
Open source solution for managing IT environments
DataGerry is a generic configuration management database (CMBD) that was developed in 2019 as an open source solution by NETHINKS and leaves the definition of object types such as servers, routers, locations or maintenance contracts entirely up to the user. The software thus provides an overview of all objects that are necessary for operating an IT environment. All important information is immediately visible and easy to find in one central location for users. This is particularly important if, for example, there are disruptions within the IT infrastructure as a result of a malfunction, and provides decisive advantages when comparing data management via Excel lists. The special feature of DataGerry is that the various object types can be easily and intuitively integrated and customized in the web interface using a drag & drop function. A connection with external systems and an automated export are just as possible as the intelligent search for data or a reporting based on the existing data. As open source software in the enterprise sector, DataGerry can be downloaded and used free of charge.
